Weekends with the Legg's

We have come to thoroughly take advantage of our weekends lately. The weather has just started to get slightly cooler and I actually enjoy being outside :) So hear are a couple snapshots of our weekends :)

Up North

So the last week in July, I made the 17 hour trek up to the Upper Peninsula for our yearly family vacation! It's one of the things I look forward to the most every year. Sadly, Aaron couldn't get off work so I had to kick it solo. I drove up to Knoxville and drove the rest of the way with Julie and Randy. We had fun driving and the scenery is so beautiful once you start getting close to the U.P. We had the most people this year than I think any other year. It was kind of insane. It was really good to see everyone, but I think I will never go on a week-long vacation without my husband again. . . . .

lots of s'mores :)

Jekyll Island

This past weekend we went to Jekyll Island to meet the vacationing Legg's. We left on Thursday and stayed til Saturday afternoon. It was so beautiful! We did lots of relaxing, hanging out, and good eating. When we left, Aaron's parents came back and stayed with us til Monday morning. It was so fun to have them here! And they actually pampered us like crazy when they were here:)

There are such beautiful, old trees everywhere on the island

On Friday night we all went out for seafood (ok I got steak) at this great down-to-earth restaurant on the water. It was so delicious. The best key lime pie I've ever tasted.

There was a gator chillin out right outside the dock! We had fun out there, waiting for him to do something besides float......never happened :)

Guest Weekend

This weekend was so fun! We had our first overnight guests :) Ashley, Brad, Addy and Kellen came Friday night. The next morning we all went out for breakfast, took them to see Aaron's office, and gave them their first ever experience at Ikea! They headed out that afternoon and then our friends Adrian and Janna Price came. We went out to lunch and hung out for awhile before heading to the Braves game. We enjoyed about an hour of good, hot baseball until it started pouring and we ran back to the car. The rest of the night we watched tv and ate junk food :) and they left the next morning. It was so wonderful to have good friends and family over!

Now for some more pictures.

Our new living room! I think it's begging to have small group held in it :)

Our little dining room.

I love this sign.

My favorite little corner. My mom gave me this picture from home and I love it.

Unpacking

So after a whirlwind weekend and lots of driving, we got back home Sunday night. The past few days have been spent unpacking, getting rid of mass amounts of clothes, and trying to figure out where in our little apartment to put all this stuff. It's so exciting to have furniture and silverware and good things like that :)

Things that make me really happy:

feeling girly and tough at the same time with my awesome pink tools.

seeing all of my cookbooks hanging out together

my coffee paraphernalia :)

our new bed!

Things that don't make me happy:

how thirsty moving trucks are. . . .

Odds & Ends

This weekend we're going home! I'm so excited. We fly at Saturday morning. I feel slightly pathetic because we had to book a taxi to take us to the airport. One day we'll have friends here to take us to the airport. . . .Regardless, I can't wait to see family. We'll be in Highland on Saturday, Windfall that night, then head back to Atlanta Sunday morning. Super quick trip.

we have officially combined our dvd collection :) aaron put all the "bad movies" at the bottom. aka my movies. poor Princess Diaries, Center Stage, and the Olsen twins.

meet The Cookie Brownie. it's the aaron legg family favorite dessert. i made it last night. here is aaron's piece cut out. . . .

look how official we are!

i camped out a coffee shop today called Steady Hand. i really liked the baristas and the feel of the place. atlanta has so many legit coffee shops.

Sunday Morning

This weekend we started the daunting task of writing our thank-you cards. . . . our goal is to do 50 per day so we can be finished before we go home this weekend. This morning we forgot to set the alarm so we slept in . . . . and then Aaron made us pancakes and coffee :) It was such a wonderful lazy day. We knocked out some more thank-you cards, went grocery shopping, then went to the evening service at church. We are really loving Trinity. I went to a worship night there last week and it was amazing. Everyone there is so excited to be there and just loves the Lord. Awesome.

we are now the proud owners of a new and huge vaccuum cleaner!

writing thank-you cards. (and if you're me, you try to write thank-you cards, eat strawberries, do paint-by-number, and watch x-files at the same time. . .)

First Atlanta Weekend

This weekend was really fun. Saturday I got to experience some "real Atlanta." Larry Barker was in town for the day and Muffy (my bff Rachel Stroud) met up with us so we had the makings of quite the fun group. We walked to the Jazz Festival at Piedmont Park, had some popsicles from the locally famous King of Pops, and had some delicious BBQ. It was really fun :) I still have no idea where I'm going 92% of the time, but Atlanta is feeling more like home.

We also went to church here yesterday for the first time since we've been married. We decided a while ago that we wanted to go to Trinity Anglican Mission and really like it so far. We've only been a few times but it seems so solid and I'm so excited to get involved, check out small groups, and actually know people in this town. . . .

We still have almost no furniture, but last weekend we went up to Knoxville to visit my family and Amy and Travis let us borrow the kitchen table they used when they were newlyweds :) It's amazing how things like that make such a big difference in making it feel like home.

Our first piece of mail to Aaron & Bethany Legg!!

Home Sweet Home

We're here! OK, so we got back from Jamaica almost 2 weeks ago, but I'm secretly a procrastinator. Or not so secretly....

The wedding was the most amazing day ever and we couldn't have been happier. It was beautiful and the weather was perfect, and there were so many people that basically put their lives on hold for a week to make it all happen. So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Jamaica was also wonderful. We had beautiful weather, stunning beaches, and more smoothies than I've ever had in my life. It was a week full of pampering and relaxing and we had a great time.

When we got back, Aaron went right back to work and I set out to make our apartment a home. After a few trips to Ikea, Target, and Bed Bath & Beyond, our Peachtree apartment is very homey :)

the fun part - opening presents!!
